NASCAR in the rain has provided some of the best racing this year imo. It is a shame NASCAR really only has intermediate tires and not full wets because that race could’ve gone on in any series but NASCAR pretty much. NASCAR needs to learn from IMSA on how to race in the rain on the road courses, and if that means better wipers and full wet tires along with better water trail dampeners on the car so be it because it is a real shame when you get a shortened race.

My issue with the start time is that it started at 5 p.m. EDT, not 3:30 p.m. EDT like most every other race this year. That is WAY too late to start a race at a track that does not have lights because you're tightening your window to the point where one delay keeps you from getting the whole race in.

As soon as I saw SVG and Larson crashed out, I knew it was about to get stupid. But hey, a dry street race in Chicago is too much to ask, apparently. 🙄

That track seems fun and I honestly don’t mind it if the weather was good..

I do agree, having the driver ticker have a slicks or wets tires indicator throughout the whole race is definitely a good idea, not just at the end of the race.

I'm tired of people saying NASCAR is new to rain racing. It's been 17 years since the Montreal race where they first had rain. Let's just be real, other than the Roval Xfinity race, NASCAR knows how to run these rain races, as long as it's not the cup guys racing. If cup guys are racing, it's chaos

Bowman's had probably his most consistent season of his career. He's not finishing in top 5, but he's putting together top 10s almost every week

Get rid of the coliseum go to Miami instead

28 minute caution... only 1 minute longer than the 2021 Road America caution in the same scenario as today's end of stage 1 caution... that was also the caution that caused everyone to start screaming about not needing cautions at the end of stages on road courses

I will tell you What happened in the first stage of the cup race, SVG won the first stage and looked like he was on track to win the whole race until Chase Briscoe came along and knocked him into a wall.

Honestly, if there wasn't rain I think the Cup race woud have been an unequivocal success.

I thought that was a really good race, strategy had a huge part in the outcome and that is what racing should be. Also, if it's raining so much in Chicago, there will be no race at Chicagoland, so I prefer the street race at least you have a race and a tough one for everyone.

I'm gonna have to go back and review the 28 minute caution because it was so chaotic and frustrating today, that I genuinely don't remember that.

This second half of the season is unexpected. New winners, close finishes, and chaos. I'm excited to see the playoffs this season because when they begin everything goes south one way or another.

As a Stenhouse fan, I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

For me NASCAR has got to come up with a set procedure for rain races and impending darkness. The fact that they're allowed to make up the rules differently each time they are put into this situation just makes the sport look like a circus. How is it that a year ago they have a rain race situation in Chicago and they create one set of procedures and then this year in the same situation, it's done completely different. They can't keep making the excuses that they're new to rain racing and unprecedented circumstances. We've been racing in the rain in the Xfinity series since 2007 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. You can't hand me that load of crap and expect me to fall for it. Absolutely sloppy race and I hate it because I think after what we saw in the Xfinity race, there is real potential for NASCAR and street racing if done right.

I’m fairly certain Stevie said that when the clock hits zero and they cross the line, it’s two to go, not one. Might’ve misinterpreted that. Tbf that fact that there’s a debate about what the rule is just goes to show how to continuity of this sport is quite chaotic, to the point that fans don’t even know the full rules :(

NBC did have an indicator for who was on slick or wets but it took the place of the interval time and was toward the end of the race

It sounds weird, but the race was bad EVEN THOUGH the racing itself was pretty decent. Way too much stop and go with delays and cautions. Brutal to try and watch.

2 years in a row...rain plays a part again. It might not be good to do this if it goes to another rain delay. Its a shame they had bad luck to weather two years in a row.

They should bring back Road America instead of this shit. This is literally the race/track that replaced it. Personally I’m not that impressed with this experiment 2 years in a row now.

The tv schedules has to make it 12 PM in the future. These NASCAR races that start around 4 PM. This doesn’t always work.. Especially tracks that do not have lights. They been doing this for years and the people continue to make excuses for them. They must do this!.. Especially when bad weather is coming. Please bring it back to Daytona. This is your crown jewel race. Well known of the Pepsi 400. This wasn’t a good race in my opinion at Chicago. It was a mess!

From what Bob Pockrass reported early that once countdown ends, NASCAR gives two laps, then white flag is waved. I nearly forgot about that honest. Imsa usually throw white flag once countdown ends or near the ending. But with NASCAR, idk. Other thing what got me questioned is why in the hell they had double file restart on a damp track during the start of stage 2. NASCAR last year at Chicago had majority of restarts single file and it wasnt that damp than today.

I'm to say it; Indycar moving to Fox is going to be good for this race next year. NBC's schedule has been back to back with Indycar and NASCAR the past few weeks, with both races having been scheduled for the same channel (though I can't recall which race got pushed that time around, since I watch via stream). I think the epitome of how chaotic this race was is that on the final restart, the MBM Ford of Josh Bilicki was in the top-15, and although it was due to being on the right strategy the entire race, wasn't even the first car to go a lap down.

I was in Chicago this weekend people were upset with traffic and the race i was driving in the rain it was pretty fast moving dont understand the lighting issue it was sunny all weekend until this afternoon it sucks
